Maestra Curandera Isabel Pinedo Rengifo

Maestra Isabel was born and raised in the “Dos de Mayo” community located in Ucayali, two days by boat from the town of Pucallpa in the Peruvian Amazon rainforest.

She comes from a family of healers, her father was one of the last “Banco de Chaman Meraya”.

Banco de Chaman is the healer who has acquired great mastery of the water worlds medecine, very connected to the Yacuruna. He could disappear into the river for several days, going to join the aquatic spiritual worlds. For this reason, Isabel's father had dieted for 5 years with his grandfather. He then passed Meraya and was able to fully heal a person in just two or three days.

Merayas being the highest level of healing achievement that can be achieved in the Shipibo culture being able to make oneself invisible or appear in different animal forms such as the Jaguar or the Serpent. The Maloca could start to tremble during ceremonies with a Meraya because its energy was so powerful. Unfortunately, there are no known Merayas still alive.

It was at the age of 11 that Isabel drank Ayahuasca for the first time, then at 14 she began her first diet under the guidance of her father in isolation in the forest away from the community. .

Between taking small breaks, she dieted different master plants and trees for 5 years in a row until she was 20 years old. A few years later, his father and grandparents, leaving this world, bequeathed their knowledge to her.

When she was around 28 years old she decided to move to the town of Pucallpa where she found more patients in order to raise her 5 children.

After several years, she left Pucallpa for the village of Tamshiyacu where she worked in a center run by an American welcoming large groups twice a month.

Isabel then worked in different centers around Iquitos for several years.

In 2010 she founded her first center “Mundo Yacuruna”, not far from the village Tamshiyacu, in order to be able to fully express her way of healing, to share her medicine and her knowledge of plants.

In 2023 she had the opportunity to buy land in the Allpahuayo-Mishana reserve located near Iquitos. She decided to partner with Philippe to create their new center “Casa Chaikoni”.

With 9 hectares of land as well as 2 swimming pools, this new center will have a large botanical garden with a multitude of medicinal plants and all the amenities necessary to welcome passengers.

Today with 40 years of experience since her first diet, Isabel uses more than a hundred different plants and knows how to prepare as many remedies to cure a multitude of illnesses.

 

She is well known in Peru for having treated very serious cases of tumors, cancer, drug addiction, diabetes, psychosis and of course all types of trauma, family energies, physical pain, depression, stress, job loss, bad luck, relationship problems, black magic etc...It still happens to be called to Lima, Cusco to provide care.

Always ready to help, to take care, she does not hesitate to get up at 5 a.m. after the ceremonies to go look for plants in the forest or go to the market and bring back fresh fish and vegetables for the passengers.
